Furniture a la Memphis in 2016
Furniture should be – Yes, comfortable but who said furniture should not also be fun?!
Well luckily there are many designers out there that share this point of few!
The Memphis Group
Playful furniture is nothing new. In 1981 the Memphis Group, an Italian design and architecture group founded in Milan by Ettore Sottsass, created fun and inspiring Postmodern furniture, fabrics, ceramics, glass and metal objects that still are current and copied more than once over the years!

Modern interpreters of fun
Designers like Ladies & Gentlemen Studio, Masquespacio’s, OS & OOS or Jenny Nordberg   follow in the footsteps of memphis and keep a tradition of fun and playful furniture and interior objects alife!
Ladies & Gentlemen Studio
Maru Lamps by Ladies & Gentlemen Studio A collection of playful and versatile pendants that consider lighting as the “jewelry” of a space.
Masquespacio Studio
Valencia studio Masquespacio’s debut furniture collection for Missana features chairs and tables that are definitely fun! The colors and shapes almost remind me of candy! So they definitely promise a sweet time!
Jenny Nordberg
Omkompositioner by Jenny Nordberg a object and furniture exhibition where Norberg sees the furniture as a supply of material. During the exhibition she takes them apart, and from the pieces she creates new objects which have new function and meaning.
OS & OOS
The Sculptural Keystone Chair in Raf Simons for Kvadrat Fabric. Designed by Sophie Mensen and Oskar Peet from Dutch studio OS & OOS, produced by Please Wait to be Seated, with the stunning fabrics from Kvadrat by Ralf simons. What i especially love about this design is, that no matter from which angle you look at this piece of furniture it always will look different!
So go out there play and have fun!
