Furniture design from Down Under
We have introduced Australian furniture designer Dean Toepfer in our blog The urban minimalist a few months back. His take on modernism paired with graphical shapes and a touch of futurism, made us love his work from the beginning! Now Dean is back with a futuristic take on the ordinary side table and light fixture.
Here a few facts about this new and cool collection by Dean Toepfer
The rebel futurism collection was developed through an exploration of materials, shapes, and forms pushing the status quo of contemporary design for furniture. Aiming to be distinct beyond different the pieces were designed to capture attention and evoke intrigue by being as functional as they are sculptural where neither form or function proceeds one another.
The Rebel Futurism pendant is made from spun aluminum finished with polished brass fixtures. The piece is hung asymmetrically, with light only emitting from the outer ring of the pendant giving the inside of the piece a hollow void.
The Rebel Futurism side table is made from spun aluminum, polished brass, and cast concrete.
What more is there to say than: we love it!
Congratulation to Dean for again creating a unique and forward-thinking collection. The future of furniture certainly looks pretty damn cool.
