Vilhelm Lauritzen airport terminal 39 in Copenhagen
Do you ever have these moments going places and in an unexpected way are overwhelmed by their beauty?
The Terminal 39 at the Copenhagen Airport is such a place for me. Designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen in 1936/39, it is a piece of contemporary and modern design with a timeless aesthetic. The colors, the shapes and interior are minimalistic, while paying attention to every detail. Its height and nude color palette allows the room to feel airy and grand. Every element of that space displaces meticulous craftsmanship, like the lighting design provided by Glashütten lighting.
Terminal 39 almost reminds me of an art gallery, a space that is made to be taken in fully.
Today, the building is used for the arrival of special guests at the airport, such as heads of state. Terminal 39 also is used in modern photoshoots, such as by Heidi Lerkenfeldt for RUM Magazin. I’m glad this uniquely beautiful space found a worthy use.
